When a local primary school got in touch with an unusual request, we were keen to help. The request was for an empty trailer, not for a delivery or storage but to use as the stage at their annual summer fete. So far so good. A quick look at the site, though, and we realised that a 45ft trailer wouldn’t go in safely.
With a bit of thinking, we figured we could use an 18T lorry and stack empty pallets in front of it to create a bigger stage - Even better. On the day, we drove the vehicle to the field, negotiating the buildings around it to park in the right spot. We then helped set up the stage, using the tail-lift and pump truck to stack the pallets ready for the show
The fete was a great success. School favourites such as The Smoothies, Interfold and Abbababababa trod the boards, playing live music from the improvised stage while faces were painted, the tombola drawn and thousands in valuable school funds raised.
